PLANGEA is a decision support platform to optimise integrated land use planning for conservation, restoration and sustainable agriculture. It generates priority maps and quantifies impacts for multiple criteria and all ecosystems types.
It is completely customisable to decision makers´ choices of criteria, scenarios and scales, capable of operating from farm to global scales. By mapping and quantifying trade-offs across multiple benefits and costs, it supports evidence-based planning and implementation to maximise cost-effectiveness of land-use decisions.
The conception and development of this multicriteria approach is fully detailed in the paper Global priority areas for ecosystem restoration (click to see the article), published in Nature, in October 2020
